Yang Lab

Deirdre A. Costello, Ph.D.

Originally from lovely Kilkenny, Ireland, I received my undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from University College Dublin, Ireland. I then moved to tropical Ithaca, New York to complete my PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell University with Professor Susan Daniel. While at Cornell, I developed single particle tracking techniques to study the binding and fusion of influenza and coronaviruses to biomimetic membranes. I joined the Yang Lab in August 2014 and my current research is focused on perturbations of cellular lipid metabolism during Hepatitis C infection. Outside of lab I am widely acknowledged to have invented the question mark?
